Red and Blue is a 20-minute performance piece featuring myself and another performer wherein we express two opposing emotions: rapture and despair. We perform within two red and blue painted triangles that serve as boundaries, limiting our movement. We both perform a repeated gesture, smelling scents in glass bottles that prompt our emotions and awake our carnal bodies. The choreography was formulated over time as I gave the other performer written prompts and short films to respond to. The performance score is based on the association between the colors red and blue to particular scents in the taxonomy I created. Post-performance, the piece exists as a score and film documentation.
